To provide a television receiver without the need for presetting receiving channels by a user himself by presetting automatically the channel receivable at the area where the television receiver is installed in the television receiver that receives an inter-text broadcast.
A channel present processing routine CR and a channel preset table CT are written in a ROM 72. The channel preset table CT indicates list of a station number in a telephone number and a receptible channel at the area of the station number. The user operates an operation panel key 51 or a remote control signal generator 60 to enter a telephone number of the user and a CPU 71 registers the telephone number in a nonvolatile memory 74. Thus, the CPU 71 extracts the station number of the telephone number registered in advance according to the channel preset processing routine CR and references the channel preset table CT to select a list of a receivable channel at an area specified by the extracted station number and writes the channel list selected finally to the nonvolatile memory 74.
