To provide a tension adjusting device capable of easily push-contracting a hydraulic automatic tensioner for adjusting tension of an auxiliary machine driving belt in an installation state, without damaging the hydraulic automatic tensioner in its contraction work.
A tension pulley 8 is pressed to the belt 5, by applying adjusting force of the hydraulic automatic tensioner 10 energized in the extending direction by a return spring 18 and absorbing a shock by a hydraulic damper 30 incorporated with applying pushing-in force in the contracting direction, to a pulley arm 6 supporting a tension pulley 8. The hydraulic automatic tensioner 10 is contracted by integrally arranging a boss 41 in an eccentric position to the rocking center of the pulley arm 6. When rotational torque applied to the boss 41 is larger than necessary, rupture strength of the boss 41 is properly set so that its boss 41 is damaged, to prevent excessive pushing-in force from being applied to the hydraulic automatic tensioner 10.
