Abstract:

PURPOSE: To automatically and accurately adjust the height of a crimper by providing a height detecting sensor for a machine frame, and a pressure detecting sensor at the upper part of the crimper to give the outputs of both sensors to a comparator.

CONSTITUTION: The lower-limit position of a crimper 2 with a preset-size wire and a preset-size terminal Wb is detected by a height sensor 11. Then, the sensor 11 inputs the detection signal to a measurement convertor 12 for digital conversion and inputs it to a comparator 14 equipped with a reference data input device 15 for computation and camparison, to allow the height H of the barrel of the preset terminal Wb to be detected by a pressure detecting sensor 10 from distortion due to thrust. The sensor 10 inputs the detection signal to the comparator 14 for computation and comparison to drive a drive 18 in accordance with an output signal from the comparator 14. In this way, a crimper height adjustment device 4 is activated to automatically adjust the height and thrust of the crimper to be a preset size of the wire and a preset size of the terminal Wb.
