Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a ternary catalyst for purifying exhaust gas of a natural gas engine for which fuel incorporating methane as a main component is used.
CONSTITUTION: A ternary catalyst for purifying combustion exhaust gas of gas incorporating methane as a main component is obtained by containing at least Pt, Rh and Ce in a wash coat layer with which a honeycomb carrier is coated. The content of these metals is regulated to ≥2g/l, ≥0.2g/l and ≥5g/l respectively for the apparent volume of the honeycomb carrier. Since the conversion activity of methane in the vicinity of theoretical air/fuel ratio is held at high activity, not only NO anti CO but also HC can be stably purified with high degree of purification for a long period when this ternary catalyst is used for treatment of exhaust gas of a natural gas engine wherein discharge of methane is plenty.
