To discriminate batteries of high temperatures from correct ones by photographing a pallet housing batteries from above by an infrared camera and fetching the temperature image data into a computer and image-processing the data.
In this system, a pallet 3 housing a plurality of batteries 2 which are the subjects to be photographed is photographed by an infrared camera 1, and the image data of the pellet 3 is fetched into a control computer 4 to be image-processed. Then, a weighted mean of the battery temperatures is taken for each pallet 3 and the temperature of each battery is compared with the weighted mean to extract batteries of abnormal temperatures and eliminate them as defective products. In this case, the temperature image and the temperature data of each pallet 3 are displayed on a temperature image monitor 5 and the pallets which have gone through photographing are transferred to an exhaust position. When there are batteries 2 of abnormal temperatures in the transferred pallet 3, such batteries 2 are eliminated by an abnormal product eliminating equipment 7, having a pickup arm 7a under the command of the control computer 4. By this method, secondary batteries of abnormal temperatures can be surely eliminated.
