PURPOSE: To eliminate preliminary heating, to shorten the time of initial heating, and to reduce power consumption by using a thin walled heating roller and controlling energizing by decreasing power given to a heater by every several seconds elapsed after turning on a power source.
CONSTITUTION: This device is provided with the thin walled heating roller 5 incorporating a halogen heater 6, and a pressing roller 3 pressing the roller 5. Recording paper 4 is allowed to pass between the rollers, so that a toner image on the recording paper 4 is fixed. A thermistor functioning as a temperature detecting element is provided so as to come in contact with or come close to the roller 5 in order to keep the surface temperature of the roller 5 a fixed temperature. A control circuit performs energizing control that the heater 6 is turned on/off and controls the timing of a control signal given to a triac. Based on the phase control of the triac, the power control that the power given to the heater 6 is decreased is performed every time several seconds elapse after turning on the power source.
