PURPOSE: To provide a thermal recording medium performing data recording by thermal destruction, having good sealing aptitude and good recording sensitivity, hard to generate ply separation and excellent in heat resistance and surface protecting capacity.

CONSTITUTION: In a thermal recording medium wherein a layer concealing a substrate is provided to be selectively melted and destructed by heating and image data is recorded by the contrast between the substrate exposed by the loss of concealability and the concealing layer, a color layer 2, a concealing layer 4 and an ink absorbing layer 5 are laminated on a support 1 and, especially, the ink absorbing layer 5 consists of a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and a filler and has a stone wall like structure.
