PURPOSE: To enable an image of high quality to be formed, by installing a dirt removal means for removing dirt stuck to a surface of recording paper to a recording paper travelling path from a feed paper position to a recording position.

CONSTITUTION: When a paper feed cassette 7 containg many sheets of recording paper by piling them therein is set at a feed paper position, the recording paper 6 at the uppermost part is drawn out by actuation of a feed paper roller 8 and supplied to be wound on a drum 1. Then, the recording paper 6 moves making a recording surface thereof touch an adhesive roller on the way thereof. Since the surface of the adhesive roller 11 is slightly adhesive, said surface removes dirt, dust, etc., on the surface of the recording paper by sticking them without generation of hindrance on travelling of the recording paper 6. The surface of the recording paper 6 wound on the surface of the drum 1 comes thus to be of a state where dirt, dust, etc., are not stuck. Thereafter, color image recording on the recording paper 6 wound on the drum 1 is performed by an ordinary color thermal transfer recording procedure. Therefore, dye from a transfer ink film is certainly transferred to an accepting layer of the recording paper 6, and an image of high quality with no turbulence can be recorded.
