To provide an image forming method which completely prevents the transfer of a receiving layer, to a part not to be transferred of the receiving layer, to an object without fitting a special attachment jig peelably to a base material film, by using an intermediate transfer recording medium with a transfer part comprising at least the receiving layer formed, and also to provide a thermal transfer sheet for the method.
In the image forming method, the thermal transfer sheet with at least a peel-off layer formed on a base material, and the intermediate transfer recording medium with the transfer part comprising at least the receiving layer formed peelably on the base material film, are used. The peel-off layer of the thermal transfer sheet and the transfer part of the intermediate transfer recording medium are laid to overlap and contact each other and heated. After the transfer part of a prescribed area is removed from the intermediate transfer recording medium, the transfer part is re-transferred to the object. In other words, the transfer part of the prescribed area of the intermediate transfer recording medium is transferred to the side of the thermal transfer sheet where the peel-off layer exists to be separated from the side of the intermediate transfer recording medium.
