Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject binder that comprises a thermoplastic acrylic plastic and a developing agent and is used for producing a solid, orally administrable medicine from the molten state or for coating. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic coating and binding agent which is applied to solid oral dosage forms as a melt comprises (A) 5-95 wt.% of thermoplastic acrylic polymer having the melting point between room temperature and 200 deg.C, glass transition point of <=120 deg.C, and melt viscosity of 1,000-1,000,000 Pas at the melting point, and (b) 95-5 wt.% plasticizer which is incompatible with the thermoplastic acrylic polymer, has a molecular weight of 20,000 dalton, melts at between room temperature and 200 deg.C, has melt viscosity of <=100 Pas. In preferred embodiments, the component A is a (meth)acrylate ester, particularly a copolymer of (meth)acrylic alkyl ester and a comonomer bearing a covalent bond cationic group, while the component B is an aliphatic alcohol, fatty acid, surfactant or fatty acid mono-, di- or triglyceride.
