Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin-walled honeycomb structural body in which the partition of a cell is thin and the honeycomb structural body is lightweight and pressure loss is small and also the outer peripheral part is reinforced so as not to be broken at time of manufacture and handling and the same is suitably used as a catalyst carrier for purifying exhaust gas of an automobile and to provide a reinforcing method thereof.
SOLUTION: The thin-walled honeycomb structural body 1 consists of an outer peripheral wall 2, many partitions 3 arranged in the inside of the outer peripheral wall 2 and many cell-passages 4 constituted of the partitions 3. The whole outer peripheral wall of the thin-walled honeycomb structural body 1 or a part of the outer peripheral part existing in a range within constant distance from the end face of at least the thin-walled honeycomb structural body 1 is reinforced by material which is dissipated or scattered at high temperature.
