Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to display a view realistically, by generating a three-dimensional CG road map viewed from an arbitrary view point based on altitude data and displaying it on a display.
SOLUTION: In response to a control signal given from a controller 17, a memory drive 13 reads a fixed range of link from disk D1 including a current vehicle position or road map data expressed by nodes and altitude map data defined for every subdivided district beforehand, and outputs them to the controller 17. The controller 17 makes the road map data and altitude map data stored in a main memory. In the case of a three dimensional CG display, the geographical features information polygon is made based on the altitude map data and supplied to a graphic generator 24. The graphic generator 24 generates a three- dimensional image by three-dimensional computer graphic processing and makes it display on a display device 22.
