To provide a three-dimensional magnetic direction sensor easily manufactured and assembled, capable of reducing a size, and capable of detecting the direction with high precision, irrespective of the attitude thereof, and to provide a magneto-impedance sensor element used therefor.
This three-dimensional magnetic direction sensor 10a includes the first sensor 101, the second sensor 102 and the third sensor 103 of magneto-impedance sensor elements 10 having a magnetosensitive body 2, having characteristics varied in response to an external magnetic field, an insulator 4 formed to penetrate the magnetosensitive member 2, and an electromagnetic coil 3 comprising foil-like conductive patterns 31, 32 arranged adjacent to an outer surface of the insulator 4. The first sensor 101, the second sensor 102 and the third sensor 103 are arranged so as to make the directions, that bring the magnetic field detection sensitivities of the respective magnetosensitive members 2 into maximum, orthogonal to each other.
