Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable three-stage optical path switching providing pin holes in both directions of a 1st and a 2nd ferrule so that both ferrules are moved laterally with a constant pitch. CONSTITUTION:The 1st and 2nd ferrules 21 and 22 which are arranged while abutting on each other have the two parallel pin holes 23 and 24, into which two reference pins 25 are inserted. The pin holes 23 and 24 are sectioned laterally long so as to enable the ferrules 21 and 22 are moved laterally by the constant pitch. Then the ferrules 21 and 22 are arranged at one position which is determined by pressing the inside surface of one of the pin holes 23 and 24 against the reference pin 25 and at the other position which is determined by pressing the inside surface of the other pin hole against the reference pin 25. Further, >=2 optical fibers are fixed to the ferrule 21 at a pitch which is 1/n time as large as the constant pitch and >=2 optical fiber is fixed to the ferrule 22. Consequently, the ferrules are moved to perform the three-stage switching.
