To perform economical tidal power generation in which a large fluid receiving area to tidal current can be secured, the structure can be simplified to facilitate increase in size, and the construction cost per power generation amount can be minimized with good power generation efficiency.
In the tidal power generation system, a traveling belt 2 provided with a number of driven variable-pitch current receiving blades 1 deformed by the fluid pressure of tidal current is set in the tidal current in a direction substantially vertical to the tidal current, and cyclically traveled by absorbing energy as a propelling force from the tidal current, and a power generator 4 is driven by the traveling belt, whereby electric power is generated efficiently with a minimum structure. Fixing wires 3 or the like for supporting the traveling belt are set in parallel to reduce the force vertically applied to the belt. A plurality of points for absorbing the energy from the traveling belt is set to reduce the force applied to the traveling belt in the traveling direction thereof.
