SOLUTION: The system switches an in-apparatus transmission path from a transmission section 52b of an external line input output section 5B opposed to another time division multiplex transmission apparatus in time division multiplex transmission apparatuses 2A, 2B placed side by side into a transmission section 52a of an external line input output section 5A opposed to the one time division multiplex transmission apparatus in the time division multiplex transmission apparatus placed side by side to continue the transmission and is provided with a function 54a to detect a fault with respect to the transmission in the time division multiplex transmission apparatus in a state of continuing the switching transmission. When the fault detection function detects a consecutive fault, the system switches the transmission path to disconnect the time division multiplex transmission apparatus performing transmission from a transmission line.
