PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire air pressure monitoring system capable of suppressing power consumption of a detection device and monitoring air pressure of a tire even when a vehicle is stopped.SOLUTION: A tire air pressure monitoring system comprises: plural detection devices 2 which are respectively provided on each of plural tire 3 of a vehicle C and transmit in radio transmission, an air pressure signal containing an identifier of the detection device itself; and a monitoring device 1 for receiving the air pressure signal and monitoring air pressure of each tire 3. The monitoring device 1 can transmit a request signal for requesting the air pressure information at a required timing to the plural tire positions. The detection device 2 comprises: a request signal reception part for receiving the request signal; a rotation state measurement part for measuring a rotation state of the tire 3 on which the detection device is provided; a first air pressure signal transmission part for spontaneously transmitting the air pressure signal, when rotation of the tire 3 is measured; and a second air pressure signal transmission part for transmitting the air pressure signal regardless of the rotation state of the tire 3, when the request signal is received.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
