PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent pneumatic tire by attaching thereto a silica- reinforced tread formed from a compsn. contg. a specific elastomer component, particulate silica, and a silane coupling agent having reactive parts.
CONSTITUTION: A pneumatic tire is prepd. which has a tread formed from a compsn. contg. (A) 100 pts.wt. diene-based elastomer component comprising (i) about 60-90 pts.wt. styrene-isoprene-butadiene terpolymer rubber, (ii) about 10-40 pts.wt. cis-1,4-polybutadiene rubber, and (ii) about 60 pts.wt. or lower isoprene-butadiene copolymer rubber having a Tg of about -20°C to -50°C and an isoprene content of about 30-70 wt.%, (B) about 50-110 pts.wt. particulate silica, (C) a silane coupling agent having SiO2-reactive part and a part reactive with the elastomer component in a wt. ratio to the silica of about (1/7)-(1/15) and (D) about 0-50 pts.wt. carbon black.
