Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain an active oxygen removing agent especially useful for an anti-inflammatory drug, comprising a specific compound such as a tetrahydroisoguinoline derivative as an active ingredient. CONSTITUTION:An active oxygen removing agent comprising a compound shown by formula I [condensed ring A is group shown by formula II (R<1> is H, alkyl, OH, halogen, amino or acylamino; R<2> is OH, amino or alkylsulfonylamino), group shown by formula III or formula IV (R3 is H or alkylsulfonyl); R is H or halogen] or a salt thereof, such as 7,8-dihydroxy-4-(3,4- dihydroxyphenyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline as an active ingredient. The compound has active oxygen removing action and antioxidant action and is useful as a preventive and remedy for various inflammations, burn, arthritis, rheumatism, pancreatitis, cataract, side effect of anticancer drug, myocardial infraction in acute stage, symptoms of radiation damage, etc.
