Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material having high bond strength and good heat conductivity by plating metal such as Ni, Cu or the like on the embedding side surface of a ferrous material, die-casting an Al base material, and forming a melt-stuck alloy layer at the boundary between the Al base material and the ferrous material.

CONSTITUTION: Metal having good property in melt-sticking such as Ni, Cu or the like is plated on the surface on the embedding side of, for example, a liner 1 made of cast iron in the stage of embedding the liner 1 by casting with a cylinder block 2 of an Al alloy. Thereafter, the liner is set in dies and a molten Al alloy as a cylinder block 2 material is die-cast to embed the liner. The molten Al alloy and the ferrous material cause a diffusion reaction through the plated layer in this stage and both are thoroughly melt-stuck together, thereby forming an alloy layer.
