Abstract:

PURPOSE:To provide a centrifugal pump type blood pump with a smaller size and a less weight along with limited generation of hemolyzation by allowing safe use over a long time to utilize it preferably for an artificial cardiopulmonary device and an external circulation circuit such as auxiliary heat circulator after open heart surgery. CONSTITUTION:An impeller which is provided with a plurality of blades 9 on a seat 8 having a magnet thereon is housed into a first housing chamber 1 and the impeller is rotated with a magnet which is rotated with a motor arranged in a second housing chamber 4 adjacent to the first housing chamber 1 through a partition. A blood pump thus obtained takes blood into the first housing chamber 1 and discharges it with the rotation of the impeller.
