Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a compound superconductor capable of being cooled with inexpensive and readily handleable liquid N2, consisting of Yb and/or Lu, Ba, Cu and O. CONSTITUTION:The compound superconductor of this invention consists of the above-mentioned elements and has the composition ratio of Yb and/or Lu and Ba of 30:70-70:30, preferably 40:60-55/45. The superconductor is produced by the following method. Namely, powder of Yb2O3 and/or Lu2O3 is blended with powder of BaCO3 and powder of CuO in a given ratio. Then the mixture is calcined in air at 800-900 deg.C, ground, cold-pressed and further sintered in air at 800-940 deg.C. Consequently, the aimed compound superconductor of oxide type having a critical temperature Tc higher than liquid N2 temperature (77k) is obtained.
