PURPOSE: To manufacture a homogeneous desulfurizing agent from coal by mixing carbonized coal obtd. by carbonizing coal with solid particles, activating the mixture with steam in a moving bed type activating furnace, cooling the activated mixture, and separating and circulating the solid particles.
CONSTITUTION: Carbonized coal 100 obtd. by carbonizing coal as fuel is fed to a mixing regulator 101 and mixed with solid particles such as alumina balls, metallic spheres or river sand. The mixture 1 is fed to a moving bed type activating furnace 2, and the resulting activated desulfurizing agent and the solid particles are taken out through a part 103 and cooled by means of a cooler 104. They are introduced into a classifier 106 through a path 105 and separated into the desulfurizing agent 107 and the solid particles 108. The particles 108 are circulated to the regulator 101 after supplying the shortage through a path 109. In the activating reaction of the carbonized coal, said material having lower reactivity than the coal is used as the solid particles.
