PURPOSE: To make the contact of powder and molten iron sure and to improve reaction efficiency by providing turning means in the gas flow passage in a lance, giving turning motion to the powder and blowing the powder thereby separating the powder flux from a carrier gas.
CONSTITUTION: Turning vanes 2 are inserted into the forward end part in the discharge port of a gas flow passage in a lance 1 to be used in the stage of blowing a powder flux together with a carrier gas into molten iron or turning grooves 3 are beforehand provided on the inside wall in the forward end part thereof. Turning motion is given to the powder flux by such lance 1 just before said flux is discharged into the molten iron, and the powder particles are removed from the carrier gas by centrifugal force. The contact of the powder and the molten iron is thus made sure and the flux consumption is effectively reduced.
