Abstract:

PURPOSE: To drive total picture elements at fixed driving voltage by forming a luminous layer having a film thickness for realizing desired luminous brightness by minimum current density, and forming a charge injection layer adjusting applied voltage with the film thickness.

CONSTITUTION: A device is formed of picture element array, to include an insulating supporter, positive pole 2, negative pole 1, luminous layer 4 and a charge injection layer. The insulating supporter is an element supporter, and the luminous layer 11, including a luminous substance for emitting light of prescribed wavelength, has a film thickness for realizing desired luminous layer brightness by minimum current density. The charge injection layer is formed of at least one of positive hole injection layer 3 and electron injection layer 5, and the charge injection layer adjusts voltage applied by a film thickness. Thus by providing a luminous layer film thickness for making an organic thin film luminous element emit light in desired brightness by minimum current density, luminous layer voltage, prescribed by these film thickness and current density, is unconditionally determined. Then, the film thickness of the charge injection layer is adjusted, and driving voltage of the picture element can be fixed.
