Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the metallic beryllium pebble which can be highly packed into a blanket container in order to improve a tritium breeding ratio and has a hole to substantially prevent the generation of swelling and failure when irradiated with neutrons. CONSTITUTION:This metallic beryllium pebble 10 is like a small stone, has an average grain size in a 1 to 5mm range and has the hole 10a at its central part. The voids thereof are 1 to 5vol.%. The average grain size of the metallic beryllium pebble is small and the hole is formed at its center and, therefore, the high tritium propagation rate is attainable and the swelling or the failure by the swelling is prevented.
