Abstract:
PURPOSE: To perform information recording with extemely high density and to execute high-speed reading of information.
CONSTITUTION: At least one cell composed of a diffraction grating is arrange on a planar substrate, the cell above is divided into to n areas (n is integer ≥2) and one of binary data is represented by each divided area. At the time of reading information, photodetectors whose number is matched with a number of division of cell areas are arranged corresponding to the respective devided areas, one of incident light beams 3 is made incident on the relevant cell and by receiving diffracted light 5 emitted from the respective divided areas of this cell by each photo-detector 4, the information is reproduced.
