PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for lowering the noise level in connection with a cooling layer in a pulp dryer.

CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for lowering the noise level in connection with a cooling layer 12 in a pulp dryer 10 has a heat-insulated bottom wall and top wall constituting sound-attenuating constructions 21, 22 and a wall at the inlet side of the cooling layer 12 also constituting a sound-attenuating construction 23. At the outlet side of the air flow from the cooling layer 12 in the pulp dryer 10, sound-attenuation baffles 26 are arranged preferably perpendicular to or inclined in relation to the direction of air flowand which are placed at a distance from one another.
