NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R is methyl, phenyl) and its acid adduct.
EXAMPLE: (5-Methyl-2-oxo-1,3-dioxolen-4-yl)methyl 7-aminocephalosporanate.
USE: Synthetic intermediate of cephalosporins: since it is readily soluble in organic solvents and stable, this compound is suitably used to introduce various kinds of substituents to the amino group in 7-aminocephalosporanic acid.
PREPARATION: A halogenating agent is made to act on a compound of formula II to give a novel compound of formula III (X is halogen) and the product is made to react with a compound of formula IV to form a novel compound of formula V. Then, phosphorus pentachloride is made to act on the product in an inert solvent such as chloroform or methylene chloride in the presence of a base at -50°CW0°C followed by hydrolysis to give the compound of formulaI.
