PURPOSE: To quickly decide a fault of communication by setting the different timer values between the manual operation and the operation of an CPU for monitoring the interval of each PB tone.
CONSTITUTION: The interval of each PB tone sent from a FAX 7 is monitored by the fixed timer value after transmission of the voice guidance. When the next PB tone is not detected with the timer value, the occurrence of an error is informed to an MCP 1. The timer value can be set at a prescribed level and differs by a fact whether the PB tone is produced by a terminal adaptor ADP 6 or the FAX 7, i.e., an operator. In other words, the PB tone produced by the ADP 6 is referred to as T1 and the PB tone produced by the FAX 7 is referred to as T2 respectively (T1<T2). Therefore the answer given from the ADP 6 is carried out more quickly than the answer given from the FAX 7. Then the communication efficiency is improved with reduction of the T1.
