Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an efficient thyratron structure, capable of supplying power from the same power source to both of a cathode heater and a gas reservoir heater without affecting efficiency or service life of a device in many applications. CONSTITUTION: A gas discharge closed circuit switch, for example, a thyratron 10, has a gas reservoir heater 22 and a cathode heater 24 power-supplied by a common power source, and a voltage applied to the gas reservoir heater and the cathode heater is optimized internally by one or more impedance elements. In a preferred embodiment, the impedance element consists of a variable resistor annexed to the gas reservoir heater.
