PURPOSE: To surely remove foreign matter stuck to the surface of a roller by abutting a plate-like blade capable of being detached on the surface of the roller, at least, facing a cleaning means out of the rollers.

CONSTITUTION: When an image forming process is completed, a solenoid 40 is turned off and a supporting shaft 44 is turned backward by the tensile force of a tension spring 43. During carrying/ejecting processes up to when a copying machine is turned on, the cleaning blade 30 is abutted on the surface of a rotary driven roller 26, that is, the cleaning blade 30 is bent with proper pressure and abutted on the driven roller 26 in this state, to remove the foreign matter stuck to the surface of the driven roller 26. Therefore, even if the cleaning blade 30 is detached from the surface of the driven roller 26, that is, not always abutted thereon, during the image forming process, the sticking of the foreign matter to the roller caused by the scattering of toner, a carrier, etc., occurs during the operation of the copying machine, so that after the image forming process is completed, the cleaning blade 30 is abutted to execute sufficient cleaning.
