Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of a superconducting rotor by bending part of an exhaust tube for exhausting in emergency through a safety valve when gas helium abnormally rises under pressure in a U-shape from the vicinity of a rotary shaft center to the outer periphery side. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting rotor uses liquid helium for cooling its superconducting field winding, and exhausts its gas helium 3 through a safety valve 2 from an emergency exhaust tube 1 to the atmosphere out of the rotor when the helium 3 abnormally rises under pressure. In this case, the tube 1 is disposed at a cryogenic unit 12 and a normal temperature unit 13 at a rotary shaft center line 10 or its vicinity, and has a U-shaped bent 5 at an intermediate temperature unit 14 to the outer periphery side. The bottom of the bent 5 is approached to a heat exchanger 7 for cooling a torque tube 6. Thus, it can reduce heat invaded from the tube 1 by means of convection, thereby providing the rotor having high efficiency.
