PURPOSE: A composition, obtained by dry blending a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin with hollow bodies, having the free-flowing property as a powder, and capable of giving structural materials, e.g. backers, having improved lightweight property, flexibility and water resistance, etc. by hot molding, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A polyvinyl chloride type resin composition obtained by dry blending 100pts.wt. polyvinyl chloride (PVC) type resin with 20W200pts.wt. hollow bodies, having 0.01W0.8 apparent specific gravity, 1.0W2,000μ, preferably 1.0W600μ. average particle diameter, and hot-pressing the resultant dry blend into molded sheet materials. Core layers, e.g. glass nonwoven fabrics, synthetic fiber nonwoven fabrics or lawns, are placed between the resultant molded sheet materials or one or both sides thereof and molded, or further surface layers of a nonfoamed synthetic resin are placed and molded to give a structural material. Inorganic type hollow bodies, particularly SHIRASU balloon or perlite, etc. are preferred for the hollow bodies.
