PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display apparatus, containing three compounds expressed by specific formulas respectively in a specific proportion, consisting of a liquid crystal material having a low refractive index, anisotropy and a great operation margin, and having high contrast and time sharing characteristics without uneven color.
CONSTITUTION: An apparatus prepared by using a liquid crystal material consisting of a compound expressed by formulaI(R is n-CmH2m+1; m is an integer 2W6), 2W10wt% compound expressed by formula II (R is n-CmH2m+1; m is an integer 2W5), and 5W15wt% compound expressed by formula III (R1 and R2 are n-CmH2m+1; m is an integer 1W5), and preferably further 2W30wt% nematic liquid crystal having the positive dielectric anisotropy. The nematic liquid crystal is preferably a compound expressed by formula IV or V (R is n-CmH2m+1; m is an integer 2W8).
