PURPOSE: To miniaturize and reduce the weight of a vehicle drive motor by controlling its thermal history throughout the motor operation and limiting its power according to its performance.
CONSTITUTION: A vehicle drive motor M, which is mechanically connected with wheels 1 and drives the vehicle, is provided with a rotation sensor S and other sensors, such as a current sensor, as required. Output signals from these sensors are input to a control equipment 6 which controls the drive force of the vehicle drive motor M. Signals from a temperature measuring means TS, installed on the vehicle drive motor M, are input to a recording means 2, which records temperature data as cumulative, cyclic and other values. A comparison means 4 compares the output from the recording means 2 with reference values, and controls a motor power limiting means 5 according to the result of the comparison.
