Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide stable dressing performance and better durability by embedding single crystal columnar diamonds which are longitudinally similar in sectionally shape in a metallic mainframe in such a manner that the ends with dressing planes to be the same planes are exposed.

CONSTITUTION: A blade shaped dresser 10 has a shank part 12 and a plane dressing part 14 to constitute a metallic mainframe. The dressing part 14 has the end formed with a dressing plane 16 wholly thick and plane. A plural of columnar diamonds 18 which are longitudinally similar in sectionally square shape are embedded in such a manner that the ends with the dressing planes 16 to be substantially the same planes are exposed. The columnar diamond 18 is formed by cleaving a single crystal composite diamond into a plate, cutting it with laser beam into a square column and embedding it in a sintered metal 20.
