PURPOSE: To enable to carry and house containers even in holds under deck wing of an exclusive bulk carrier by a method wherein means for transferring containers to and from the position just under the hatch opening on the bottom floor ceiling of the hold are arranged on the bottom floor ceiling of the hold under the deck wing of the exclusive bulk carrier.

CONSTITUTION: The container traversing devices, each of which consists of a piston 13, a cylinder 13A and the like, are arranged on the bottom floor ceiling of the hold under the deck wing part 5 of the exclusive bulk carrier 1. Containers 2 are housed in the holds just under the hatch opening 4 and as well as containers 2' are housed in the holds under the deck wing part 5. In case of landing containers, the containers 2 loaded in the holds just under the hatch opening 4 are directly landed from the hatch opening 4. After the finish of the landing of the containers 2, the containers 2' loaded in the holds under the deck wing part 5 of both sides are transferred to the position just under the hatch opening 4 by means of the traversing device and, after that, landed from the hatch opening 4. In such a manner as mentioned above, the exclusive bulk carrier can be utilized as a container ship.
