PURPOSE: To provide a method for forming images having excellent reproducibility of halftones and high quality free from surface stains by using coherent light as a light source and attaining compatibility of a high sensitivity with high resolution and an electrophotographic photoreceptor featuring a long life and low cost.
CONSTITUTION: This image forming method comprises forming a latent image on the photoreceptor by using the coherent light of a beam diameter ≤80μm and developing this latent image by using a developer. The photoreceptor having a photoconductive layer on a conductive substrate is used. The intensity of the reflected light on the surface of this conductive substrate is ≥20% and the average value of the fluctuation in the intensity of the reflected light on the surface of the photoreceptor is ≤5%/cm.
