PURPOSE: To enable a semiconductor device to dispense with mode selection signal pins by a method wherein power supply terminals where an electric power is sequentially supplied providing a time difference are provided, and mode selection signals are formed in accordance with the feed sequence of an electric power fed to the power supply terminals.
CONSTITUTION: Power supply terminals 5 to 7 are provided, and a operation mode is selected. That is, the power supply terminals 5 to 7 where an electric power is sequentially supplied providing a time difference and circuits 14 and 15 which generate operation mode selection signals used for selecting an operation mode by electric powers fed from the power supply terminals 5 to 7 are provided. Therefore, an electric power is sequentially supplied to the power supply terminals 5 to 7 providing a time difference, and a feed sequence of an electric power fed to the power supply terminals 5 to 7 is identified. As mentioned above, an operation selection signal which selects the operation mode of a semiconductor element 1 is produced inside the element 1, so that an operation mode can be selected without providing mode selection signal pins.
