PURPOSE: To provide a storage type temperature-difference battery, which has an ordinary power generating function for the time when a temperature difference exists, a storing function, and a discharging function for the time when the temperature difference is eliminated, and which can be used as a back-up power source for utilizing exhaust heat and for co-generation.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of redox compound 2, of which oxidation and deoxidation potential is changed in response to a change of temperature, is arranged between a high temperature electrode 3 and a low temperature electrode 1, which are respectively arranged at a temperature different from each other, under the melted condition. Furthermore, an ion conductive solid electrolyte 6, which does not permeate this pair of redox compound, is arranged in this temperature- difference battery. Two discharging electrodes 7, 8 are arranged between the ion conductive solid electrolyte 6 and the high temperature electrode 3, and the ion conductive solid electrolyte 6 and the low temperature electrode 1.
