PURPOSE: To save a material in case of manufacturing a can, by providing plural preprocesses, and executing drawing and pressing in order, when forming a cuplike blank material from a circular metallic base plate which is thin and has a large diameter.

CONSTITUTION: A circular metallic blank plate 11 whose thickness t' is thin and whose diameter D' is large is drawn to a cut shape by another press machine. Subsequently, a cuplike blank material 12 whose diameter d3 is smaller than the diameter D' is primarily worked by a high-speed drawing press machine. After that, a cuplike blank material 13 whose diameter d4 is smaller, and a cuplike blank material 14 whose diameter d2 is further smaller are drawn in order. In this regard, the thickness t' of the bottom part remains unchanged. In this way, a side wall of a cup product can be made thin, and a material can be saved.
