PURPOSE: To prepare pitch for electrode capable of forming electrodes with high mechanical strength and low electrical resistance, by mixing coal tars, aromatic solvents, and aliphatic solvents to yield a sediment, to which coal tars are added and heat-treated.
CONSTITUTION: About 40W80wt% coal tars (e.g., soft pitch) 101, about 45W 10wt% aliphatic solvent 102, and about 45W5wt% aromatic solvent 103 are introduced into a mixer 104, and the resulting mixture 121 (at about 15W140°C) is introduced into a separator 105 to separate a supernatant liq. 106, yielding heavy sediment oil 107. Then the oil 107 and coal tars 108 are heat-treated with stirring in a reactor 109 to yield intermediate pitch 110, which is heat-treated in a reactor 111 to remove soft oil 112, yielding product pitch 113.
