PURPOSE: To reduce the time for treatment by heating the molding powder packed in a vessel to a specific temp. range by resistance heating and heating the same quickly up to the temp. lower by a specific temp. than the hot hydrostatic pressing temp. then subjecting the molding to a hot hydrostatic pressing with the liquid or solid as a pressure medium.
CONSTITUTION: Molding powder, for example, Ni- or Ti-base superalloy powder is packed in a vessel and is subjected to a hot hydrostatic pressing treatment. At this time the vessel is heated by resistance heating up to a suitable temp. between 0.65TM°C and 0.75TM°C where the melting temp. of the powder is defined as TM°C. The vessel is heated quickly by high frequency heating up to the temp. lower by at least 100°C from the hot hydrostatic pressing temp. Thereupon, the vessel is subjected to the hot hydrostatic pressing with liquid or solid as a pressure medium. If preheating is applied in such a way, the time for the hot hydrostatic pressing is reduced.
