PURPOSE: To enable an impeller to be mounted to and detached from a casing, by a method wherein a fixed part to which a non-rotating part on the motor side is mounted is provided directly or indirectly on an aerator casing, and the size of the fixed part is so set that the impeller can be passed therethrough.
CONSTITUTION: A mechanical seal 3 and the impeller 5 are attached to an end of a shaft for an underwater geared motor 1 as one body, and a flange 4a of a mechanical seal casing 4 connected to a gear casing 2 is fitted to a fitting flange 6a of the aerator casing 6. In this case, since the outside diameter of the impeller 5 is larger than the inside diameter of the fitting flange 6a of the casing 6, the flange 6a is provided with notches 7 having a circumferential width of larger than that of the vanes of the impeller 5, the number of which notches 7 is equal to the number of the vanes, so that the impeller 5 can be passed through the flange 6a.
