PURPOSE: To accelerate a reply to the request given from a terminal device, by executing polling only to a terminal device whose power supply is turned on among plural terminal devices from a CATV center through a cable, and at the same time performing the registration and the polling in time division.
CONSTITUTION: The data to be sent to a terminal device 102 from a center 100 is stored temporarily in a computer. When the polling of the center 100 is carried out, the signal is supplied to the computer through a line of the center 100 → a cable 300 → a distributor 400 → a filter → a demodulating circuit →the computer. Then nothing is processed unless otherwise it is decided that the polling is given to own, and the processing is kept waiting until the polling to own is carried out. When the device 102 receives polling in a certain period, the stored data is sent to the center 100 to perform processing.
