PURPOSE: To reduce size and weight and to improve the sepn. efficiency of dust, by providing additionally another swirling chamber on the downstream of a conventional swirling chamber and providing a dust chamber on the outside circumference of the swirling chamber.
CONSTITUTION: The unclean air entering the inside of a cap 2 through a suction pipe 11 advances like an arrow, and is swirled in a swirling chamber A by the effect of the circular conical surface 5a of an annular body 5. The air is admitted through the opening part 5a of the body 5 into a lower swirling chamber D, where it is swirled further, and the relatively large particles of the dust in the unclean air are separated. The separated dust is collected through a gap Y into a dust chamber B. On the other hand, the air removed from relatively large particles and contg. relatively small particles of the dust is captured by a filter element 7 of an axial flow type in the stage of passing through the filter part 20 of said element and is sucked as clean air through a discharge pipe 9 into an internal combustion engine.
