PURPOSE: To provide the titled remedy containing a specific syn-type cephem compound or its salt as an active component, and effective to the bacteriosis of fish, especially the infectious diseases caused by Vibrio, Pasteurella, Edwardsiella, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The syn-type cephem compound of formula (R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is H, vinyl or thiadiazolylthiomethyl) or its salt is used as an active component of the objective preventive and remedy for the bacteriosis of fish. In the cephem compounds, only cephalexin [chemical name: 7-(D-aminophenylacetamido) desacetoxycephalosporanic acid] is known to be effective to the diseases of fish, however, the compound is inactive to vibriosis, etc. It has been found that the compound of formula is exceptionally effective to the vibriosis of various cultured fish, pseudotuberculosis of young yellow-tail, Edwardsiellosis and aeromonas disease of eel, etc. Dose: preferably 0.5W100mg/kg by oral administration.
