PURPOSE: To facilitate high speed operation with good workability, by furnishing a robot arm, which turns round an axis inclined to the major axis with the head part as fulcrum, at a moving member moving in the directions in parallel with and perpendicular to the major axis of machine tool.
CONSTITUTION: An arm 19 of robot 1 turns round an axis A inclined forward with the major axis of a machine tool 89, and lies on the inclined axis C when turned toward the work table 88. Accordingly the work table 88 can be installed with a space for works reserved in front of the spindle chuck 87, that assures free from risk of interference with the space for works while the arm 19 lies on the line C. The swing-in motion of the arm 19 can be made by driving the arm, which is equipped at its tip with hands 25a, 25b and an opening and closing mechanism for them, only once, that will together with its small inertia moment contribute to operation at a high speed.
