PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a raw material for the preparation of antiplasminic agent, etc., in high purity and yield, under mild conditions with excellent workability, by reacting a trans-hexahydroterephthalic acid lower alkyl ester with ammonia in the presence of water.
CONSTITUTION: trans-Hexahydroterephthalic acid lower alkyl ester is suspended in ammonia water and methanol, etc., and made to react with each other in a closed state under heating and stirring. After the completion of the reaction, the mixture is cooled, the insoluble materials are separated by filtration, the filtrate is concentrated, and the ammonia is distilled off to obtain the objective trans-4-carboxamidocyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid as a precipitated crystals. The compound can be converted to trans-4-aminomethylcyclohexanecarboxylic acid having antiplasminic activity by dehydration with acetic anhydride, etc. and catalytic reduction using Raney nickel, etc.
